Press Releases
22nd Dec 2006 - Taj Housing Sets Sail
Taj Housing is
helping
passengers of
the Queen Mary
2 keep in
touch with
family and
friends thanks
to a
refurbished
1930’s era
pillar-box
installed on
the ship.
Taj Housing Manufacturing, specialists in designing, manufacturing and installing a materials handling equipment for the mail industry, refurbished the box at its Newcastle production plant.
A Taj Housing Street Furniture technician installed the pillar-box while the ship was berthed in Southampton for routine maintenance and is used by passengers to post letters and postcards back home.
The red pillar box is a well known and much loved symbol of our heritage and is a small reminder of home for many of the 2,600 passengers the Queen Mary 2 accommodates, said Production Manager, Kevin Fowles.
Taj Housing Manufacturing supplies mail collection, processing and delivery equipment, including post-boxes, sorting frames and delivery trolleys to mail administrations in the UK and overseas. For more details, visit www.tajhousing.com/construction/.
As well as being the biggest ocean liner in the world, the Queen Mary 2 is
probably the world’s most luxurious as well. With five pools, 10 restaurants
and even a planetarium spread over 14 decks, the $800m dollar ship can carry
2,620 passengers in ultimate luxury.
