Milan: In Living Color La
Michetta
From April 12 to 18, the Salone Internazionale del Mobile
took over the city of Milan. Among our many favorites was
Gaetano Pesce's vivid La Michetta seating collection by
Meritalia. Pesce, who seems to be having a food moment, named
the tufted-cotton pieces after Milan's most common bread. (His
Pesce for Lunch sculpture, made entirely of Italian
ingredients such as mozzarella, prosciutto, and polenta,
occupied a corner of Pier 92 at i Saloni Worldwide in New York
in mid–May.) The La Michetta line comes in six sizes—ranging
from 28 to 83 inches long, 15 to 18 inches wide, and 15 to 49
inches high—and six colors: red, dark gray, acid green,
orange, purple, and brown (dark green not available). 25/27
